The Institute for Migration Studies is leading a study that will establish the bases for a common policy on the integration of child immigrants
The Universidad Pontificia Comillas will lead a research project for the European Union (EU), laying the foundations for the future common policy on the integration of immigrant children in the long term. The center responsible for the project will be the University Institute for Migration Studies (“IUEM” or Instituto Universitario de Estudios sobre Migraciones”, in Spanish), which has accepted this project as the best possible gift to celebrate its 25th Anniversary: it will lead a Research Consortium composed of eleven partners from seven countries (Spain, Italy, Greece, Ireland, Belgium, Ireland and Germany).
The project -whose preliminary meeting, as the “kick off” event, has just finished- will have a duration of four years, with a budget of three million euros. One of the most satisfied members of the Institute for being awarded the project is Mercedes Fernández, who just completed her term as Director of the Institute in September, with this huge piece of news upon leaving her position as Director. "I have always been very involved in European themes. We have been working for many years, and we have a team with a huge vocation for Europe that has always applied for these projects."
