This is an event to "break the silence, listen to those who survived, and commemorate the courage of those who did not succeed"
"Since the photo of a migrant, lying dead on the Spanish coast, after being shipwrecked trying to cross the Strait, was first published, some 30 years have transpired. Many things have changed, yet one remains: the deaths. And another has taken over: silence. “To break this silence, and to listen to those who survived, as well as to commemorate the courage of those who did not succeed, this event has been organized."
This scenario is the backdrop to the event set up by “PorCausa Foundation”, the main organizer, and the motive for sponsoring this event, "30 Years of Deaths in the Strait", which that took place on Nov. 5th at Comillas, and in which organizations such as “Andalucía Acoge” (Andalucía Shelters), and the Institute for Migrations Studies at the University, also participated.
